Today, one of my favorite people in the whole word turns two. TWO!! If that’s not an occasion for cupcakes and hats, I don’t know what is.
I met Stella when she was about 6 months old. Her parents, Kimberly and Eric, were my neighbors when we were both renting on the other side of town. Within about 20 minutes of meeting, Kimberly and I were fast friends, and visits with Stella became a normal part of my day. She’s a photographer’s dream — HUGE blue eyes, perfect little lips — and I was usually all up in her grill with my camera.

Once she got accustomed to it, she was ready to show off her faux-hawk and snaggletooth, as well as her crawling skills:

Watching a child grow up is such an honor. I got to shoot Stella’s whole family last summer and it was so fun to see her being such a big girl:

This January, Stella, Kimberly, and Eric welcomed brand-new brother Sam, and once again I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to take their photos. Stella wasn’t so sure about sharing the spotlight (plus she’d just finished napping), but I just love that she let me see exactly how she was feeling.

A week or two later, she was all smiles again. She knew presents were imminent.

Happy Birthday, big girl. xo Lisa
