Day at the races

Check out JJ, his twin sisters Molly and Maddie, and their super sweet mom and dad. They ordered up some sunshine and lens flare and general radness.

Pretty family:

Racing:

JJ and Molly show us how it’s done.

JJ is going to be a heartbreaker. He was super polite and helpful. And easily bribed.

How sweet are Cristy and Jeff?

Thanks for all the smiles!

Kerrin - Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family!

Cait and Rick are married!

I knew the minute I met Cait and Rick that I was going to have a big crush on them. We sat down together a few months ago to talk about their wedding, and I was over the moon when they described their style to me — casual, candid, free, happy. Rick’s mom was at the meeting as well, and she was so clearly thrilled to be planning a wedding for her oldest child (of five!). I’ve been looking forward to this all summer.

The ceremony took place this past Saturday in the stunning back yard at Cait’s parent’s house in Scituate. Did somebody say perfect weather? BOOM! Sunny skies, puffy white clouds, and not a drop of humidity. Rick and Cait brought the heat, though. These two are total smokeshows and have a magic between them that travels out in waves. I felt less like hired help and more like a friend all day, as all their family and friends came together to celebrate.

Cait’s dress was so simple, yet so dramatic and unique. It’s the dress that has all the other dresses talking…

The yard, which is gorgeous enough to begin with, was alive with butterflies and bees and hydrangeas and the trees were strung with lights:

I spent some time over at Rick’s house with his family and friends and watched while he transformed from handsome into OH MY GOD.

Then back to Cait’s and the wedding site to catch some details, shoot Cait and her bridesmaids, and wait for the ceremony to begin.

Seriously? Cait literally took my breath away. My assistant Pete had to sit down for a minute…

A few moments before the ceremony:

Ted, a long time family friend of Rick’s parents and a zen buddhist, was the officiant for the ceremony. He, and Rick’s two youngest siblings, Mary and Michael, performed Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am” during the ceremony and it was awesome.

Happy, happy.

I think this is one of my favorites. Cait’s sister spoke and it was so emotional:

Married!

A few more favorites:

Jeff Corwin is a cousin of Cait’s and his wife Natasha did all of the flowers. There were no snakes or alligators present.

The lights under the tent were so pretty, and everyone was dancing.

The bride’s fabulous parents:

Saturday also happened to be National Dance Day, which Rick and Cait and a good portion of their guests were prepared for. This was absolutely the most fun I’ve had at a wedding — they did the routine three times and it just kept getting better. Click below if you want the soundtrack…

I feel like I made a whole mess of new friends at this wedding, but more than anything, I felt so wonderfully blessed to have been a part of this spectacular day. Cait and Rick have the love and support of amazing friends and family as they sail into their new life together, and I’ve been smiling about it non-stop.

Sibling Revelry

My brother’s family shoot just happened to coincide with his 37th birthday. He groaned when I asked him how old he was going to be. As if it were unbearable. As if he forgot that I am FIVE years older than him.

I’m photoshopping his head onto Seth Rogan’s body and posting it to Facebook. Happy Birthday!!

(I would do it, too, if his family wasn’t so darn cute….)

Macy and Charlie:

I love this one:

My sister-in-law Sarah is a total rock-star mom and probably the nicest person in the entire world. For real.

This one just makes me so happy. The light was extraordinary at this point in the day, and Sarah, Macy, and I all walked out across the mud flats to the water for this shot.

My mom and dad came along, as well as Calder. Here’s a shot of all the boys:

Calder and his grandma and grandpa:

Many thanks to my whole family for years of love and support. And for lugging my gear around. And for the immense sums I’ve “borrowed.” And for being wonderful. xo.

Jeri - Lisa, these are beautiful. Though I have never met her, I feel like I’ve watched Macy grow up from baby to big girl. Maybe I should stop stalking your blog and get some work done?!

Ellie - Can you airbrush out some of those wrinkles?? :-)

Sarah Gilbert - LOVE THEM! You are amazingly talented, Lisa! Thank you!

Ellie - Wonderful photos — and a wonderful get-together of my favorite people!

I Do, Redux: Jeff and Julie are married!

A few weeks ago I posted Julie and Jeff’s engagement photos and told you a little bit about how cool they were and that they actually got married last fall but decided they wanted to have a wedding with all of their family and friends anyway. I was lucky enough to be there to capture the tremendous happiness that lights these two up whenever they see each other, and it was an amazing, sunny, filled-with-laughter kind of day.

I was blessed to have the fabulous Molly Bergeron along to second shoot for me and generally keep me from losing my head. Her shots are some of my favorites!

Julie and Jeff elected to do a First Look (yay!), so we spend the morning catching up with them while they got ready, and then we all met at the Scituate lighthouse — and it was if the sky had been painted perfectly to match everyone.

Out to the lighthouse:

Molly got this perfect shot:

Gimongous wedding party:

Gorgeous bride:

Molly was in charge of the guys, and I LOVE these shots she got:

The ceremony at St. Mary’s in Scituate was so pretty:

Don’t you just love the way Jeff is looking at Julie in this one?

Off to The Barker Tavern for the reception. Thanks to Molly for the detail shots!

A big thank you to Molly for being totally shazaam, and a special thanks to my good pal who brought us Snickers and water and saved us from heat stroke;). But most importantly, Jeff and Julie, thank you for letting me be a part of your amazing day. I wish you all the happiness in the world.
